PURPOSE is a 3’30” mini documentary about life’s purpose, struggles and the inspiration to pull through, narrated by Mykel Shannon Jenkins, actor/director and personal coach living in Los Angeles, California.
I asked director Igor Kosenko about the background for PURPOSE, and here’s what he told me:
“Mykel Shannon Jenkins […] helps people to recover from heavy injures and puts them in shape. I never in my life seen somebody work that much and have such passion for things. This guy is 47 years old. He wakes up every day at 5-6 in the morning and has enough energy to train people, write his scripts, prepare his roles, train himself, take care of his 2 kids and much more.
I met Mykel 3 years ago on a feature film The Gods. I was doing cinematography on this project. We shot for 16 hours every day for 10 days. Since that we started working together on a regular basis. A couple of months ago I decided to spend a weekend at Mykel’s house and shoot a small documentary about him. Once the shooting was over I interviewed him. As a result of this work came this documentary.”
I found PURPOSE to be an inspiring and poetic reminder of why we’re all here. If you ever feel stuck or in doubt in your professional life, try to remember Mykel’s words.
Mykel Shannon Jenkins was born on July 3, 1969 in Louisiana, USA as Michael Shannon Jenkins. He’s an actor and producer, known for Undisputed 3: Redemption (2010), Anonymous (2013) and The Gods (2015). He is married and has two kids.
