Surreal Cityscapes of Istanbul by Aydin Büyüktaş

Story by

Do you remember the movie INCEPTION? Remember that scene in which Leo di Caprio instructs his new dream architect on how to bend and create realities? Welcome back to class, boys and girls.

In his photographic series Flatlands Turkish artist Aydin Büyüktaş creates surreal cityscapes of his city of residence – Istanbul, Turkey. Instead of aforementioned Hollywood blockbuster he quotes a book by Edwin Abbott as inspiration. Either way, Aydin would have been a formidable architect to assist Leo.

There’s more great surreal work to be seen on Aydin’s website. You can also follow Aydin on facebook or Instagram.

“These works aim to leave the viewer alone with a surprising visuality. An ironic as well as multidimensional, romantic point of view.”
