Story by

Came across these images on the design blog From Up North and had to repost them. This stuff makes us feel connected to them, in a beautiful, sad, dark, porcelain doll , eerie way. Oleg goes by the alias DOU and as that artist, he mashes painting and photography together to create his subjects. He hails from Barcelona and is actually showing right now at the Arts Santa Monica Museum in Barcelona. If you get a second, read this quote below and head over to his site to check out more work, its all absolutely amazing.

“I use artificial nature of a digital photography as a tool to reach the point between opposites such as alive and dead, attractive and disturbing, beautiful and ugly. Thus I’m searching to transcribe the feeling of presence that you get while passing the plastic mannequin.
Meanwhile I believe that the surface of the photography is very important. And I try to do photos in a beautiful way, inspired with a classical paintings. Not for the beauty itself, but to create more powerfull images. “
